How to get more Google reviews
The best starting point is a consistent, personal request for an honest review after a completed job, with a direct Google review link. Ask customers fairly—not just the ones you expect to give five stars—and never offer a reward.
A review routine for every completed job
- Make it easy. Open your Google Business Profile, choose Read reviews → Get more reviews, and copy your review link. Add it to thank-you emails or receipts.
- Make it personal. Mention the job you completed. Automate Headaches offers a thank-you photo approach: a job photo with a sign showing the customer’s first name, followed by a review link.
- Ask for honest feedback. Don’t write the review for them, request specific keywords, buy reviews, or offer discounts.
- Reply thoughtfully. Thank customers and address concerns professionally. Never share private customer details in a public reply.
- Check what changed. Track new reviews and replies over time, then compare your profile with nearby businesses using the free checkup.
What should a review request say?
“Hi [first name], thanks for choosing us for [job]. If you’d like to share your experience, here’s our Google review link: [link]. We appreciate your honest feedback.”
Use an appropriate contact channel and respect consent and opt-outs. The customer decides whether to review and what to say.
How many reviews do you need?
There is no universal number that guarantees a top-three Google Maps position. Your competitors, relevance and distance all matter. Start with your actual profile: the free checker compares reviews and ratings with the first three other businesses found for your trade near your listing’s map pin.
